I've got a wonky face
Am I from a wonky race?
With a lopsided steeple
Especially for boss-eyed people
And birds with beaks with one side bigger than the other
And crooked streets that fight with another
And pavements that long to batten down the hatches
And houses that long to play with matches
I see a skewiff sky
Or is just my funny eye?
Am I looking at the sun
Or the bullet of a cock-eyed gun?
That shoots just like a boomerang
And leaves a lasting tremor in your hand
You duck to avoid the slug that's heading for your head
So your neck's not left hanging by a thread
I don't care if this doesn't make sense
Pours out of my pen when I pense
Birds get away with tweeting in riddles
While the world cooks on a griddle
The less I care the more sense I make
I'm always happier when there is cake
I will save the crumbs for the birds
Maybe more if they sing in thirds
I've got a wonky face
But would I win the wonky race?
To the lopsided steeple
Especially for boss-eyed people
